Lacuna refers to gaps, voids, or an absence within something that exists. The word is used in numerous fields like medicine (for hidden spaces in the body), literature (missing words in language), cultural studies (gaps in knowledge of e.g. history) and astronomy (cavities seen on planets and moons, sometimes indicating unknown areas).
This work reflects a past experience, of what I found to be an unexpected connection. The encounter was constructed in a room full of strangers feeling each others, and their own, freshly formed lacuna’s.
You are about to listen to sounds that could enhance a feeling of lacuna. By sharing each sound through earphones with your neighbour(s), I hope to convey a mimicked moment of connection.
